»We do not all know what’s to come. Especially the internet has a power comparable only to the invention of printing« says designer Raban Ruddigkeit, co-owner of the studio Brousse & Ruddigkeit in Berlin. The best thing is to equip creative people who remain open and flexible, and who hold back on forecasts and regulations. »Therefore, we offer nothing rigid, but flexible, dynamic solutions. Things change faster and faster, you have to be prepared for that in design, especially in digital space.« he explains.
… Due to many new unpredictabilities, the focus is shifting from designers to moving further and further away from the surface: »It is our mission to implement concepts that work on behalf of our customers. Aesthetics is a comparatively uninteresting side-scene,« says Ruddigkeit, »and beauty is not the first criterion for us designers. The real question is: Does it work? Form is function!«

From the 7. to the 21. october 2017 the Gallery Neurotitan, Berlin show our Graphic Comments for the German newspaper DER TAGESSPIEGEL.

The exhibition in the heart of Berlin shows on 350 m² a selection of the Graphic Comments, which were published since 2015 in the  German newspaper DER TAGESSPIEGEL. The idea for this visual column emerged in the spring of 2015, when the refugee topic reached the media & the graphic artists Lea Brousse & Raban Ruddigkeit published a first graphic comment on social networks.

This was the starting point for a collaboration in which the graphic did not only have to illustrate just one text as usual. Rather, a topic, which is illuminated by different sides & different authors, now also free & independent to comment in graphic form. Since then, more than 100 Graphic Comments have been created, from which a selection will now be shown in the gallery NEUROTITAN.

When the texts are discarded, they face an assessment that extends beyond the day. The series was awarded in 2016 by the jury of the VISUAL LEAD AWARD as illustration of the year for newspapers & regularly quoted in blogs and books.

We would like to thank Lea & Thalia, Ariane, Ursula, Sandra, Merlind, Arno, Anna, Bettina, Max, Sabine, Penelope, Sabine (TAGESSPIEGEL), our friends Lars, Robert, Martin, Boris, Stina, Mike, Olaf, Uli, Marc, Rebecca, Jan & Eric & Sebastian for his nice words & Peter for the beautiful photos!
